We have lots of Sunday School Songs that we have learned over the years.

Whilst some Sunday School Songs are just fun and a bit silly, many of them teach our kids simple, but important truths.

I was just thinking about a particular song in fact – “Read your Bible, Pray every day”.

It is a kids song and it is a bit fun – if you get the kids to grow up and shrink down while they sing it gives them some movement and opportunity to work out some energy before going into Sunday School.

Read your Bible pray every day, and you’ll grow, grow, grow,
And you’ll grow, grow, grow, and you’ll grow, grow, grow,
Read your Bible pray every day, and you’ll grow, grow, grow.

Neglect your Bible, forget to pray, forget to pray, forget to pray,
Neglect your Bible, forget to pray, and you’ll shrink, shrink, shrink,
And you’ll shrink, shrink, shrink, and you’ll shrink, shrink, shrink,
Neglect your Bible, forget to pray, and you’ll shrink, shrink, shrink.

The thing is, whilst this is a simple little, funny song, it packs a big bundle of truth in it’s cute words.

If you want to grow in the Lord, then the first and most simple things you can do to ensure that growth, is to just read your Bible and spend time in prayer.

If you don’t do these things, then there is absolutely no doubt that the outcome will be emotional and spiritual shrinkage.

If you don’t spend time reading the Word of God, and spend time in prayer to the Lord, then you can not grow in the Lord.

It really is that simple.

Maybe we should pay a bit more attention to some of these Sunday School songs.

Just be careful though – some of these songs are not really all that great…. 😉
